Truro, Falmouth & surrounding areas
Truro, a cathedral
city, is the busy commercial centre of the county and the main shopping centre
of Cornwall. West Cornwall's city offers a huge variety of shops of all kinds,
as well as the Hall for Cornwall's major entertainment venue, rewarding
restaurants and traditional pubs.
Across the water from
the Roseland Peninsula stands Falmouth, Cornwall's largest port and one whose
maritime heritage is enshrined in its long waterfront and the newly opened
National Maritime Museum Cornwall, one of Cornwall's Landmark Attractions.
Falmouth is the gateway to that other great region of West Cornwall the Helford
and The Lizard. In an exquisite reprise of the wooded tidal rivers and creeks
between Truro and Falmouth, the Helford Estuary offers a serene world of woods
and water.
For the horse riding
enthusiast West Cornwall has miles of rideable tracks and there are numerous
riding stables and trekking centres catering for all levels of skill.
West Cornwall has
excellent facilities for the ‘outdoor’ sports of golf, tennis and bowling.
There are tennis courts and bowling greens in all the sizeable towns and there
are golf courses of unique character at Cape Cornwall, Lelant, Helston,
Falmouth, Truro, Mullion, Perranporth, Praa Sands, and Tehidy Park.
Coastline
Featuring a fine series of sheltered, sun trap beaches along the southern shores
of Pendennis Point. Gyllyngvase, Swanpool, Castle and Maenporth are all perfect

Hayle, Perranporth, or Sennen and the air is intoxicating....

Gardens & Parks
Cornwall's spectacular
Eden Project is fast becoming one of the Garden Wonders of the World.
The towns and villages
of West Cornwall are blessed with beautiful public gardens. Truro has its
Victoria Gardens and the adjoining Waterfall Gardens where plants and water
create a delightful oasis.
Falmouth's
award-winning Fox-Rosehill Gardens, one of four in the town, is a beautiful
subtropical space brimming with exotic shrubs and plants, with a cactus house to
add to the appeal. At the hidden heart of seaside St Ives are the immaculate
Trewyn Gardens, while the town's lanes and courtyards are awash with the hanging
baskets and flower tubs that make St Ives a regular winner of the Britain in
Bloom awards.
